Hello, I'm wondering if there is any authoritative place to obtain a
PRL for Alltel in text format? Obviously, it's in the phone somewhere,
but is there any way to view it?

My second question is, who are Alltel's roaming partners? I've gleaned
from reading this group that they mostly use Verizon, but I know they
have deals with other companies as well...is that information
available in any one place, or only as bits and pieces scattered here
and there?

My selfish reasoning for this whole project is that I'm using an
analog phone on Alltel's National Freedom plan...Although most argue
that digital is the way to go, I just haven't been able to sacrifice
the un-compressed analog audio quality, which makes my StarTac sound
every bit as good as a landline phone when I have a good signal – if
you find me a CDMA phone that sounds as good, I promise I'll switch
over.  When my friends have to ask me if I'm on a cellphone, I know
it's a good thing.

I live in Lakeland, FL, where Alltel has the "B" side of things
(according to the map at
http://people.ku.edu/~cinema/wireless/south.html), but when I travel
outside of Alltel's coverage, I want to be as careful as I can with
whom I'm roaming, since analog phones don't even know what a PRL is.
I'm trying to find known "nonfriendly" roaming SID's, so that I can
avoid them. I know paying $.59/min away from home might be my plight
for still using analog, but I don't want to if I don't have to.

Oldschool? yes. Selfish? sure. Doing a lot of unnecessary work?
probably. Willing to give up my analog phones? never........
