Does Alltel offer an emergency plan?  With some providers it's not
advertised but available.  I'm not talking about prepaid plans.

If by emergency plan you mean a phone with minimal airtime per month..
then yeah we do have a couple of different options. I'm not sure which
area you are in, but in Florida we have a statewide $19.95/mo 50 minute
plan which has tax added to it to be roughly $23/mo. A bit pricey for an
emergency phone.

The best options are with prepaid, we have a limited coverage area on
our digital .27/minute program.. but the best is probably our Simple
Freedom program, .25/minute flat rate any time with a National Freedom
type of map.

You can read more about it at http://www.simplefreedom.net

Shaka,
You were unclear as to what you meant by Emergency plan. So therefore I
am going to make 2 assumptions here. One I believe Cam has already covered
if that is what info you were looking for. I also believe it is safe to
assume that all major carries such as Alltel, Verizon, USCC and others have
plans where you pay a small fee and get a few amounts of minutes to use for
what you are probably looking for since you said prepay was out of the
question. The second assumption that I thought you might be referring to is
what happens in a emergency such as acts of GOD like a hurricane or tornado
or other natural acts where power might go out. I think that all cell phone
towers now have back up generators to kick in if power goes out. Now that I
am on USCC, every tower that I have been that is USCC's, has a shed or
building with generators right at the tower to kick in in such a event.

If you are looking for a phone to just use to call 911 and such in a
car accident theory, then I would just buy a phone from a local pawn shop
and carry around in the car and use it that way as 911 is a FREE universal
call on all cell companies in the US.
