I'm actually a Tracfone customer, and I've always wondered if I'm
really just an Alltel customer that sends his money somewhere else.
Now I know for sure!
Tried checking my voice mail with the "1" button, as usual, doesn't
work. Find out they've put in a new system across Nebraska. Finally
got everything set up, and reprogrammed my phone so the "1" button
works again.
Since I'm not <really> an Alltel customer, I don't get any notices
about what's going on, so I'm in the dark!
1. What's so great about the new system? Doesn't seem to have any
new functions, except....
2. The only new function is a "broadcast list." What's that?
3. There's just one function I'd really LIKE to have, and that's the
voicemail icon on the phone, then I don't have to waste minutes
checking my mail! Doesn't seem to work, though. Other companies can
do this, why not Alltel?
Thanks, all!!

Mike,
Call Alltel. Verizon has a function in voice mail that turns off the v/mail
indicator. It should be able to be turned back on. At Verizon it's called
"notification" in the menu.

Eh, e-mailed Tracfone, the lady did some checking, and said it was not
available to me. This makes me think that Alltel doesn't have it, at
least not in this area.
E-mailed Alltel, they gave me five words: "You need to call
Tracfone." Thanks, guys, big help!! B-(
Of course, this was all before they got the new system. I'm
considering whether I need to go through it all again. Since it
doesn't look like too much has changed, I doubt I will.
Thanks for the reply,
Mike

A "broadcast list" allows you to program a number of cellphone users into a
group under a descriptive name. i.e.: band members, scout people, family,
work associates, etc. This makes it easier for you to send a message to the
"group" without having to entering each recipients number individually each
time.
