Janie,
The National Freedom plan is very similar to Verizon's America's Choice.
Alltel does not have quite as many roaming agreements, but that affects
areas farther to the west of where you are.
If you look at Alltel's and Verizon's Local coverage for the areas you
are looking at, you'll see if there is enough coverage.
Example: Spencer, WV is covered, but only along the road from Spencer to
Ripley, and that stretch is serviced by Verizon, and it would be
included in NF.
The biggest differences between the two are where they each have their
own coverage, and where Verizon has agreements with Sprint and Western
Wireless in more areas. East of the Mississippi, I don't see any
significant differences. Use Alltel's tryout period right before you
travel to these areas.
Yes, all the major cities are included w/NF, although most of them will
be on the Verizon network. Operating between the two is fairly
transparent.
Very few people come to this newsgroup complaining about unpleasant
surprises with NF.
