Please help - Motorola 120e reception

My girlfriend replaced her phone (alltel) with a motorola 120e model. She
seems to be not getting good reception. Someone will call her and on THEIR
end it rings, but not on hers, or it will go straight to voicemail.

Is the 120e and better or worse in regards to reception compared to other
models? I suppose not fully understanding how they function adds to the
confusion. I assume there is some kind of contact between a cell phone and
the towers all the time.

My wife just bought a 120....similar problem.....the phone was somehow
set up (in the Alltel system) to transfer all calls to Voice Mail.  Had
to call the *611 and wait for the typical 2 hours for someone to answer,
but they corrected the problem over the phone.

You may want to call their assistance number from a landline, so you can
troubleshoot the problem over the phone.

As I understand it, the 120e has software issues that have just been
resolved. Your market should now have a new software load that they can
flash to the handset to help correct some of the reception issues. This
will not correct poor reception due to the poor antenna configuration of
this handset. Never buy handsets with either internal or "stubby" antennas.
