A friend of mine has a Treo 650 on Verizon. I use Alltel, a regional
CDMA provider. He's thinking about updating to a Treo 700p, and I was
wondering if it would be possible for me to use his phone with my
service.

I don't know what frequency Alltel uses, but I doubt a
Verizon phone can be used on Alltel. Try asking Alltel's
customer service.

Ah, those Chapel Hill doctors and lawyers ... I'm NCSU '72
Verizon and Alltel are each others largest roaming partners, and the
equipment is technically interchangeable. Both are CDMA, both use
primrily the "cellular" band and have a few "PCS" band locations.
HOWEVER, in late 2005, Alltel quit (officially at least) putting any
phones on that they didn't sell.
We had nasty words about Sprint for that policy for years, but I have
not heard anyone complaining loudly ... wonder why?
