My replacement Moto E815 arrived from Alltel's contractor, today, via
USPS PP. I'm sure it's a refurb, but you could never tell it looking at
it. The screens are new, there's not a single scratch and the hinge is
as tight as a new one. It does lack the Alltel logo on the screens and
the Alltel logo under the keypad.
One "improvement" of this E815 is its audio volume is MUCH
LOUDER!....EMBARRASSINGLY LOUDER! I clicked up an audio file of a huge
ship diesel engine starting off a Danish webpage and the engine's alarm
siren made every head turn to scowl at Denny's diner before I could turn
it down! It must be 10-12 db louder than my April '07 new one! This is
MOST welcome as Fox News Channel is sometimes hard to hear over the
rattling of dishes in my fav diner for breakfast. It's plenty loud now!
I'm blaming Axcess TV (Alltel's version of MobiTV) for crashing my
original E815's firmware...HARD. Axcess TV had caused several hard
reboots since I installed it, at random times. I was watching some
report about Hillary Clinton getting kickbacks from John Hsu when it
finally crashed hard. My E815 musta been a Democrat! The only thing it
would do was boot to "Bootloader USB Init" on a bubble blue Moto screen
after that....my uncopied pictures and ringtones but a distant memory....
(sigh). Fox talking about Hillary was just too much for it.
I hope this new E815 doesn't have the same virus/bug in it. It still
balks rendering TV exactly every 15 seconds for a hundred milliseconds
while it's too busy doing "something else".
I took the new phone, unopened, with my old battery and battery cover to
the main Alltel store and let the nice blonde activate it and copy my
trusty old Verizon V60i contact list to it on their fancy computer. She
was glad to do it, very nice. She activated the phone, but could not
delete the duplicate charge for downloading another copy of MobiTV's
player off-the-air to make it work. I had to call 611 and get them to
delete the extra charge. I did so, without incident, from one of the
nice waiting chairs in the Alltel store before leaving.
All-in-all this was a good experience, but time consuming. They didn't
balk putting my trusty old V60i back online as soon as the E815 failed by
calling 611 from the V60i. That was easy. It ran flawless all week but
I must admit I'm addicted to MobiTV with diner breakfasts.

Oh god, will you please STOP all this crap about Axcess TV. I for one
am SICK of listening to your bitching about it. We get it, you are
not fond of it.
Have you ever considered not being so ADDICTED to tv that you have to
use your phone to see it while away from your REAL TV SET?

And now you show your true age...intelectually, anyway. About five or
six. Got it.

What do you expect from someone whose whole life is wrapped around TV?
He will vote however the media tells him to. What a sad existence.
