Yep, AMPS is dead in Charleston, too. I get NO SERVICE on Alltel when I
switch the old V60i to AMPS. It's gone.....(snif)
Guess I'll toss the emergency bagphones if they won't connect, too.
Pity......

I still have been seeing some AMPS in rural parts of California, but not
on Verizon or AT&T.

USELESS. Bought one from Alltel. It's a 200mw CDMA sellphone mounted in a
huge bagphone with separate handset probably plugged into the earphone jack
inside the plastic.
NO POWER for use in the country where the towers aren't in toyphone
spacing. The phone is terrible to use because the keypad is permanently
mounted on the BASE, not on the back of the handset like a real bagphone.
I returned it for a full credit after finding out it was all a lie.
