I have a nokia 6360 and have purchased 2 data cables from Nokia/ATT. (I
assumed the cable was bad). They are serial cables.

I am unable to regular make a connection between the Nokia software and the
phone. It will work occasionally but never reliably. The software has some
very easy to use functionality and the OULOOK synch was very good (when it
worked). I have the phone replaced by ATT assuming it went bad but I got the
same results.

Anybody have a positive experience with his or have any idea what to do to
get it to work?
Thanx

What operating system are you using? (ie window xp?)

I have used it via the IR port and an IR-USB dongle on Win XP and ME.
Works like a charm.

My new laptop does not have an IR port.

Neither does mine.  I bought a USB to IR dongle on Ebay.   I was worried
it wouldn't work, but I had little or no problem getting ME and XP to
install the drivers.  Can't recall the brand.

I have tried it with Windows XP Professional and Windows 2000 Professional.
No luck with either

Works fine via IR and Win2K.

A>    If you need a data cable, try www.cellphoneshop.net instead of
Nokia.  Check the prices and make up your own mind.

B>    Check the port settings for the serial port.  19200 bps is
what the phone is expecting.  XP is a bear to force the settings to be
stable.

C>    The PCSynch software wants a stable com port that is on
STANDARD settings.  (COM1-COM4) and not a dynamically allocated com
port that M$ seems to think should work.

My own experience has been that once I got the operating
system to leave the serial port at standard ANSI settings, the synch
worked fine all the time.  I use a desktop running XP (the problem
child) and a laptop running ME.
