Some stores won't put up live demos because they constantly get stolen.

You leave out real phones, they get beat up and damaged by the Bart
Simpsons of the world, If you're trying to save money, (if you're an
AT&T Manager and want to be retained by Cingular, you demoinstrate your
value by cutting costs) you don't put out phones that laster you can't
sell.

That has nothing to do with it. The company guideline is one live phone on
display per phone model. When you have phones stolen on a weekly basis, you
stop putting live phones out to get stolen.

The phones aren't tethered on heavy metal ropes?

They are in some stores but others, like in my area where theft is not a big
problem, they are not. Same thing with CDs here- only the rap and hip hop CDs
are in theft cases while the others are not.

They are around here. The really cool phones are only display phones, and if
you want to see a real one, they have one behind the counter you can ask
for.
I went to a Cingular store, and everything was behind glass. They didn't
even have real phones behind the counter for you to play with. Even the rep
at that store sucked. Went to a different Cingular store, and it was a
different story.
