Back on 20Feb I postedthat ATTWS charged me when I ported to TMo.
After 1.5 months of phone calls I got to speak with Lea (B2877). I
explained that the additional $17.99(x 2 lines)was not right. As
support for this please see
http://tinyurl.com/2xl6k
It is on ATTWS' own website, in black and white, and a bit of yellow.
Below is what it states (the webpage will probably be down by the time
anyone reads this):
QUESTION: What charges will appear on my last AT&T Wireless bill?
ANSWER: Your last AT&T Wireless bill will have a prorated monthly
service charge from the first day of your billing cycle until the day
your service ends. Although we hope you are happy with AT&T Wireless,
should you need to cancel here's an example of your closing bill: You
are on a $79.99, 650 minute calling plan. Your billing cycle begins on
April 5th of each month, you cancel your service on April -24th. You
will be charged for monthly service from April 5th - April -26th. -21
days of service/ 30 days in the month x $79.99 = approximately $56.00
for a partial month's service. The number of minutes included in the
plan will also be prorated. -21 days of service/ 30 days in the month
x 650 minutes = 455 minutes included for the partial month; you will
be charged for any minutes over 455. You will also be charged for any
other charges, such as taxes and text messaging that apply.
Lea said that employees are told to tell people something else. But it
is there in black and white...and yellow. I hope that this will help
some others hit with this fee/tax/penalty. I just saved $35.98!!!

Sounds like the FCC needs to be alerted to this. It may be legal, but it
shouldn't be secret.
