Apparently they have now (arms length or not) got roaming agreements
with Cingular everywhere.

"AT&T Wireless customers who enroll in the new national plan, GSM
America, as well as those already on one of the company's qualifying
national GSM plans, automatically get the benefit of paying no roaming
charges anywhere in the United States. "When they place calls and use
wireless data services, these customers no longer have to worry about
roaming charges, which are one of our industry's biggest dissatisfiers"
To enable customers to take full advantage of the larger GSM service
area and improved network quality, AT&T Wireless said that all new
devices it introduces this year will be 850-compatible, including the
latest Motorola V600 camera phone, which comes with Bluetooth, a vivid
color screen, access to AT&T Wireless mMode(TM) service, international
roaming capabilities, and many other advanced features.
The new offer will be available beginning April 18
==================
The downside not mentioned is a $39.99 National plan now gets you 600
Anytime minutes, 650 if purchased over the web by April 17.
After April 18, in line with Cingular's pricing, you get 450 Anytime
minutes, according to Press Release.

So they are now saying that data roaming costs no more than normal
usage? Is mLife still 2cents per kilobyte at $3/mon, 1 cents at
$8/mon? I assume access to mMode means you still have to pay extra to
get it?
