Hi Bill,
This is a question I've been asking for a couple of weeks now. The short
answer is "no, ATTW does not provide data over tdma." I can partially accept
that answer. However, 8 or 9 years ago, I could hook up my cellphone to my
laptop modem (via a special cable)and dial my ISP. That was analog, and it
worked, albeit slowly. Fine for email though.
I can manually dial my ISPs access number and get through to their modems
just fine, so I know I can make a connection. What I cannot seem to be able
to do is make my V60 dial that same number using my laptop. If I could, I'm
sure it would work. My laptop recognizes the phone as a USB modem, and I can
transfer, phonebook stuff, etc with ease. It just won't dial. It seems that
ATTW has locked the phone somehow so it cannot be dialed by a computer. I'm
looking for a way to unlock it, get the proper software to dial, or find a
hack to make it work. From what I've seen in the computer world since I've
been involved with it (1982), it just seems that this is too easy for it not
to have been done.
Hopefully, someone can jump in and help.
