You don't need to change plans to get a new phone. They will be
happy to extend your current plan for another 2 years, as is, There
may be some limited exceptions such as for Charter Plan members, but
that's about it.

Lots of phones show "Out of Stock" on the Web Site
Motorola V600
Sony T616, Sony T306
Nokia 6200, Nokia 3100
Maybe AT&TWS is late paying their bills? The NEC 525 is back in stock,
and was Out of Stock for what? 2 or 3 weeks.
There's always Independant dealers and eBay sellers that will have a
different stock. Let your fingers do the walking. The web is wonderful.
I remember years ago a Camera store that would always have the Nikon F
camera on sale $100 less than anybody but always seemed to be Out of
Stock.
You'd try and get another camera store to match the price, and they'd
say, "When I'm out of stock my price is even lower than theirs".

I'm a charter plan member (unlimited minutes/long distance) and I just
got the v600. They gave me the $299 price plus an $80 credit for
extending my contract for 2 years. I was surprised that they let me
extend the charter plan because I thought it was going to go away
after my initial 2 year contract expired.
