I have a major billing issue. I bought a phone from an AT&T store and they
renewed by contract for 2 years and I recieved a nice discount on the phone. My
contract was orginally supposed to end in October 2004. I returned my phone and
a few days later I called AT&T and they said my contact was removed, inlcuding
my orginal contract and I was now on a month to month basis.
I later got my bill and was charged almost three times as much. I have been
going around and around with customer service. My only choices to be pay the
bill and continue service or cancel pay the $175 cancellation fee and be done
with it.
Is their a higher up I can talk to about this issue and get it fixed?

if they put you on month to month, then why is there a $175 ETF?

You didn't say why your bill was higher. Was your rate plan changed?
Were you moved to a different billing account with a prorated bucket?

actually they couldn't tell me why my bill was higher either. The rate plan and
billing cycle were the same. They said the only thing I could do was cancel the
account and pay $175 or pay the entire bill. I talked to a few customer service
agents and a few supervisors. They all told me the same thing. None of them
could tell me why I was being charged extra. I am calling their legal
department tommrow.

But where do the extra dollars show up? Was the MRC higher?
International calls? It should be listed right on the bill what the
charges are...I don't believe they just made up a total that doesn't
add up to the sum of the charges.

The charges showed up on the bill listed as "additional charge". After hours on
the phone with different people from AT&T they did reverse the charges but they
could never really tell me where it came from or why I was charged.
