Can anyone tell me if Cingular has started calling any of the shots at AWS
yet regarding policys/proceedures/employees? I am referring to confirmed
instances, not "it seems as if" type stuff.
Thanks, Fred

Fred,
In a takeover of this size where Federal approval must be acquired, Cingular
can't even make a hint of control of any of AT&T's operations. Any
appearance of such, like the new and improved roaming agreements, is
strictly in accordance with normal practices of separate companies.
Anything otherwise would be a huge mistake in the eyes of the feds, and AT&T
employees are (or should be) told that it isn't over until the fat lady
sings, and until the agreement is signed, they are to operate like Cingular
was nothing more than the competition.

Since the buyout hasn't occurred yet, it'd be highly illegal for them to
officially and publicly do so.

I stopped in the Cingular store and asked the same question last week. The
guy told me you wont see anything happen till around August or later this
Fall. He said when it dose happen you will get a new Sim card for your
phone.

I'm not sure about needing a SIM card. When Voicestream bought out
Omnipoint, you didn't need to swap SIMs.

No, they can't unless they are part of the transition team.

Mr. John S., I can't help but ask, what do you do for a living?

I am a Consulting Engineer. <graduate engineer - not a technician>
I specialize (recently) in Cellular. Most recently cell site upgrades (GSM) for
AT&T Wireless and changes in the Sprint PCS network.
