This is a slightly expanded post of a previous post.
I am looking to buy at least 1 extra phone for my family. I have one
GSM, a Siemens S46, and the balance a Nokia 6860 (TDMA), a Nokia 3360
(TDMA). The 3360 is quite flaky ---missed calls, not being able to make
outgoing calls etc.
I am thinking of keeping the Siemens S46 and buying 3 other GSM phones.
for a total of 4 phones. I dont know if there are dual GSM/TDMA phones
made any more. Short of that my list consists of Nokia 6800, 6560,
6200IM,and Motorola V60s (are there others?).
I dont need camera, but would like the following:
1. Excellent voice quality
2. Excellent battery life (both in terms of standby/talk, as well as how
long it lasts)
3. IR link to send and receive data to my Palm (which I really need only
on one phone), or perhaps a PC link to sync to Palm data.
4. Ring/Vibrate
5. Friendly interface.
So help me friends. Should I keep the Siemens S46 and get a new battery
and buy one of the Nokias or Motorola above? If I keep the S46 will
ATTW let me still keep the dual GSM/TDMA capability under a new family
plan? I intend to go to a store to ask them, but I thought I will ask
the experts here first. I also will consider the Verizon line but their
phones do not generally have the features I am interested in.

Vijay:
I don't know if this is the best plan, but I can tell you what I did when we
changed from our former cellular company to ATTWS GSM.
I purchased the Motorola V600 for my personal use. I did have problems with
my first one, but took it back before the 30 day trial period was over and
the store personnel cheerfully changed it out with no questions asked. My
second one has worked flawlessly. The camera didn't interest me (still
doesn't although my wife thinks it's rather nice.), but the Bluetooth did
(wireless headset) as did the quad-band coverage as I'm starting to have to
do some traveling overseas.
The other two phones we got were the Nokia 6200 IM. Phonescoop rated them
rather high (www.phonescoop.com) and to this point have been excellent
phones. Great battery life, tri-band coverage on the GSM system, great
reception, rather good building penetration; the family really likes them
and I'm happy with mine.
Just one person's experience and opinion, others may vary.

Thnaks for your feedback. I am currently trying out the Nokia 6200IM
(which cost me only $50 at the store, sorry Dominic) which is quite
good, the rest of my family got 2 LG G4015, and a Nokia 3595. The
Motorola V600 was quite a bit more money, so I passed.
I have 2 more weeks to decide to keep any or all of the phones--thank
you ATTW for thsi long time to try it out--sure beats all other
companies trial period. I think I will keep the 6200IM really like the
ease of use.

I have had the 6200 (pre-IM) for about 14 months and love that phone. Great
features. I got my family two nokia 3100s which have been great for them.
In ANY phone, the speakerphone function is great.
ATT gave me a great plan...7pm evenings, free mobile to mobile...so my son
knows if he calls his mom or dad minutes are free. And $10 per number.
And, ATT service is getting better. The no roaming is a pleasure. And
the signals are stronger on GSM than a year ago.
