Off-topic- Cingular Wireless no longer exists.

John,
Are you the listowner of both groups - "*.cingular" and "*.attws"?

If so, can a revised charter be done to consolidate each?  It would make for
less cross posting and more sense.

These aren't mailing lists; these are Usenet newsgroups.  As such, there
is no listowner.

Nor is there an owner, period.  There isn't even a moderator.

John *thinks* he owns the newsgroups, though.  Navas is one weird dude.
Just lurk and see.

John is just a participant like you who posts his own FAQ about what he
thinks the group should be about.

Good starting point, but conversations often take wild tangents.
Discussion is good.
This was a pretty dead group for quite a while (until the iPhhone came
along).

Both groups are unmoderated, so it's basically a free-for-all. Nothing
gets deleted and all posts get posted.

I wouldn't sweat any charters.

Thanks for the clarification.  I was just trying to find a way to reduce or
eliminate the cross posting with identical groups.

John - What is your bio and experience in the cellular industry?

He owns a cell phone.  End of resume.

No, I'm the creator of the alt.cellular.cingular newsgroup, which means
I wrote the charter.

No, once created, newsgroups just go on until they die.

I actually post the charter of alt.cellular.cingular regularly.

Sadly, Usenet in general is dying.

It's only a free-for-all to those that have no respect for others.

>> I wouldn't sweat any charters.

Why am I not surprised.

The cross-posting is being done by a few childish trolls that are out to
disrupt the newsgroups.  Best to just ignore them.

>John - What is your bio and experience in the cellular industry?

A matter of public record, but not relevant in this context.

A little Google action is your friend.

John read some modem manuals once a long time ago, when this "internets"
thing started out, and became an "expert" on modems (much in the same
way that in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king).

He now thinks he is an expert on all forms of telecommunications.

We're still waiting for him to tell us the last time he cracked open a GSM
cabinet at a cell site to do maintenance.
