Thanks for the clarification. I was just trying to find a way to reduce or
eliminate the cross posting with identical groups.

He owns a cell phone. End of resume.
>>> Are you the listowner of both groups - "*.cingular" and "*.attws"?
No, I'm the creator of the alt.cellular.cingular newsgroup, which means
I wrote the charter.

No, once created, newsgroups just go on until they die.
>> John is just a participant like you who posts his own FAQ about what he

I actually post the charter of alt.cellular.cingular regularly.
>> Good starting point, but conversations often take wild tangents.

Sadly, Usenet in general is dying.
>> Both groups are unmoderated, so it's basically a free-for-all. Nothing

It's only a free-for-all to those that have no respect for others.
>> I wouldn't sweat any charters.
Why am I not surprised.

The cross-posting is being done by a few childish trolls that are out to
disrupt the newsgroups. Best to just ignore them.

A matter of public record, but not relevant in this context.

A little Google action is your friend.
John read some modem manuals once a long time ago, when this "internets"
thing started out, and became an "expert" on modems (much in the same
way that in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king).
He now thinks he is an expert on all forms of telecommunications.

We're still waiting for him to tell us the last time he cracked open a GSM
cabinet at a cell site to do maintenance.
