Hey, Oxford.  What was that claim you made about Google?

Oh, yeah--that it was a flash in the pan, nothing more than "the search
engine of the month," not a name at all, not a player at all, walking
dead.

Right?

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Google Inc enjoyed one of its
biggest monthly gains in U.S. Web search market share in
October, building on consistent gains over the past two
years, according to industry data out on Wednesday.

Market research firm comScore Inc said Google's core Web
search properties captured 58.5 percent of the U.S. market
in October, up from 57.0 percent in September.

The top five providers of Web search all showed at least 5
percent growth in the number of searches in October. Yahoo
Inc was number two after Google, followed by Microsoft Corp,
 IAC/InterActiveCorp's Ask.com and Time Warner Inc's network
 of sites, including AOL.

"They are all growing in the number of search queries but
Google is taking a disproportionate share," comScore
spokesman Andrew Lipsman said by phone.

Gee.....they forgot to mention Apple.

Oxford, you must get on the phone with these people RIGHT NOW and
explain the error of their ways to them.

Google is investing big money near Charleston, SC, for a new storage
center to serve the net from its distributed system.  There was a big
article in the local paper not long ago.  I found this on Google:

How many servers can you install on 520 acres of prime land, anyways??
It's THAT big!  I always thought servers came in little plastic boxes or
19" rack mounts....??

Mt Holly used to be a tiny hamlet between Goose Creek and Moncks Corner
near Oakley, but got swallowed up as Goose Creek expanded.  It has always
been fun on ham radio when someone wants to know your location from way
off somewhere.  "Where are you located?" "Mt Holly, SC." "Where's
that??" "Oh, 'bout halfway 'tween Goose Creek and Moncks Corner."  One of
two things happened after that.  Their either were laughing so hard at
the country hick they couldn't talk for a few minutes while rolling
around laughing or they were too embarrassed to persue the location
further for fear of looking stupid in geography....(c;  Either way, we
had great fun with it.  The closest mountain to Mt Holly is about 155
miles NW up I-26 at Little Mountain, more of a sand hill than a mountain,
actually, to further the confusion....(c;  The top of Mt Holly is about
15' above sea level!
