Becasue that outputs *3gp formated videos which are incredibly small.
Using the TCPMP/FlashVideoBundle plugin you can watch youtube videos
at their native 320x240 esolution. not only that but EVERY video is
available in this manner ratherr than just the ones they get around to
converting to 3gp.

Hes right, the crappy iPhone uses m.youtube.com because it only
handles .3gp and rtsp:// streams. I really dont understand why Oxford
would brag about something like this? Even under one of his Pen
Names? This just further proves the point that iPhone is not really a
PPC replacement, not even a contender really. WinMo > iPhone in
nearly every way.
