The iPhone development community has done it again. Software/firmware
revision 1.1.3 has been jailbroken (full read/write access to the
filesystem), meaning that unofficial third-party applications can be
installed under this release. Unfortunately, the current method is so
complex that its developers have decided to hold off a public release
[Update: We've also learned that the jailbreak method requires
hardware modification]. However, they have posted a YouTube video
demonstrating a jailbroken iPod Touch running firmware 1.1.3. We have
confirmed that this video is legitimate, and that the jailbreak has
been accomplished for both the iPhone and iPod Touch:

You don't need the clickthrough, just this part.
I didn't see it INSTALLING and RUNNING anything, though. Why not?
Macrumors says:
"The Jailbreak for 1.1.3 is not going to be released until Apple releases
the Standard Developers Kit (SDK) sometime in February. ..."
Apple keeps fighting with its proprietary bullshit...same as always.
Imagine how great the Iphoney would be if they had had a thousand hackers
working it over with new ideas and neat stuff like:
http://maemo.org/
in an open source community hell bent on making everything MAC actually RUN
on it....instead of this pay-for-web-browser-nonsense, which isn't going to
fly.
Of course, that could also have been said for the other WebTV devices like
Iphone.
