Is there a reason for not buying a blacberry. They seem to be liked . I
have never had one.and was thinking about buying one.

I guess the reason not to buy one would be if you wanted a Windows
Mobile device or had Windows mobile applications you needed.... :)

Kind of like asking if there's a reason not to buy a mac (or not to
buy a *Doze machie).

Depends on your needs.

Poor interface, lack of a push mail client unless you happen to run one
of their corporate mail servers, the horrid browser, lack of touch
screen, and limited range of available software (vs other mobile
platforms) come to mind.

That being said, they're nice devices for some purposes, especially if
you're plugging one in to an existing corporate environment, and are
happy with the existing PIM type software. This covers most of
corporate America.

What in your opinion would be a good phone to get. I want to reward
myself after a long hospital stay.

If you wish to stay inside the AT&T stable of phones, the Tilt is nice, so
is the iPhone. But, if you wish to look outside of the box, check the N95-3,
its unlocked, abit in the expensive side but if you wish to reward yourself
with a nice vacation after you illness, it can be used with any gsm
provider. Here and internationally.

It really depends on what you want. If you're looking for a good solid
phone, I'd recommend the Razr2 V9.

For a smartphone, I've been quite happy with the AT&T Tilt I recently
purchased -- It's my first Windows Mobile phone experience, I've been a
Palm guy for many years, but Palm finally pushed me away.

If you want something in the middle, and aren't planning to be a heavy
user, the iPhone is simple and easy to use, but rather limiting in terms
of customizing anything, is painfully slow at accessing data, but if you
can wait it out, the browser is amazing, and the interface is fairly
intuitive.

If you can post more about your needs, or expected use, I can probably
narrow down a better suggestion.

The droid at att told me the tilt phone was to slow to make me happy.

Is the Tilt perfect, no, is it easy to jump into WM from other systems and
phnes, no, is it slow and choppy, no. That guy is just what you called him,
a droid, and infact, you called him something quit abit less uncouth then
what I would have called him.

It's not as speedy as it could be, especially when rotating the screen
in the Today view with a large number of plug-ins.

However, it's an extremely powerful device with the exception of screen
latency (loading a huge database, sorting and searching are all speedy,
for example. So is GPS routing with maps covering all of North America
loaded)
