Oxford - 01 Jul 2008 18:42 GMT Just posted, the new Tour of the 3G iPhone!

Enjoy!
BruceR - 01 Jul 2008 18:57 GMT ...and your reason for posting this to the T-Mobile (and other non-ATT) groups is? I know this may be difficult for you to understand, but those of us who are happy with their non-ATT carriers just don't care about the iphone.

and if you noticed, today AT&T said they will soon sell iPhones with no contract so that opens the door wide open for T-Mobile people wanting to move up to an iPhone.
so sit back, watch the tour and enjoy a glimpse into your future!

You're the same one that predicted the world would collapse from overpopulation by 1990, a new Ice Age would begin no later than 1985, and that the Mac was the computer for "the rest of us" and would kill off all other PC makers. The real reason you post this crap is to help you deal with your buyers remorse at having once more being nailed when you bent over and picked up the soap for Steve Jobs. You should be focused on that other super prediction about how 2/3 of the Western world have full blown AIDS by 1990. That fits better with your role vis a via Apple.
have a nice day

And you have also been wrong.
Remember your offhand dismissal of 3G? The stupid comments you made? Now that it's actually IN an iPhone - I guess you must be eating those words...
Then, your insipid wi-fi assertions. Months later, proven to be utterly wrong.
Your blather about RIM, Nokia and others. Still wrong for the most part.
Bottom line - FANBOY!!!

> Remember your offhand dismissal of 3G? The stupid comments you made? > Now that it's actually IN an iPhone - I guess you must be eating those > words... what? 3G still sucks the life out of your battery for no real gain since most people will use WiFi 90% of the time. The exciting thing about july 11th is the App Store not the 3G phone.

BruceR - 02 Jul 2008 04:58 GMT Your blather about RIM, Nokia and others. Still wrong for the most part.
>> Bottom line - FANBOY!!! > > nah, I'll never be a fanboy, just a proponent of "quality" products no > matter what the brand. Oxford, anybody who is as evangelical about a phone as you are and is not employed by its manufacturer is, by definition, a fanboy. We are all thrilled that you are a happy apple customer and loyal to their product du jour, but haven't you gotten the message from these posts that many disagree? And if we/they do disagree, why do you care? Again, only a company employee or a fanboy would care - and even a company employee would appreciate that it takes a wide variety of products to serve any given market - ONLY a fanboy would be so arrogant as to think that the whole world. Apple is a bit unique in thinking their way is the only way but perhaps - just perhaps - that's why they maintain their low single digit market share.

the only people that don't like the zeal towards "perfection" are competitors... isn't that interesting.
BruceR - 02 Jul 2008 23:35 GMT >> I think you have it wrong. It's partially their tyrannical attitude >> that [quoted text clipped - 14 lines] > the only people that don't like the zeal towards "perfection" are > competitors... isn't that interesting. Apple is FAR from perfection. They couldn't even repair an iPOD that was returned to them 3 times under warranty because they couldn't understand or wouldn't admit what the problem was (fairly simple, it wouldn't hold a charge). That was my one and only horrific experience with Apple. I wouldn't DARE try again. Believe it or not fanboy, other manufacturers make damn good products that are easy to use and reliable and, if customer service IS needed, they actually fix the problem right the first time! Example, the Delete key fell off my Sony laptop's keyboard. I brought into Sony's repair depot and they fitted it with a whole new keyboard and had me on my way in under 30 minutes. Try that with an Apple!
Oxford - 03 Jul 2008 01:52 GMT > > actually, it's that tyrannical drive for perfection which produces > > such [quoted text clipped - 12 lines] > or wouldn't admit what the problem was (fairly simple, it wouldn't hold > a charge). sounds like user error.
> That was my one and only horrific experience with Apple. I > wouldn't DARE try again. but what can apple do about a user that does know how to operate a simple device? you didn't return it 3 times since on the third attempt you would have received a new device. don't make up stories, okay?

you'll get your first apple product someday and then understand what extreme quality is all about. but lying, will get you nowhere.
BruceR - 03 Jul 2008 04:20 GMT >> > actually, it's that tyrannical drive for perfection which produces >> > such [quoted text clipped - 40 lines] > you'll get your first apple product someday and then understand what > extreme quality is all about. but lying, will get you nowhere. No. I'm not lying. And it was not user error. After about 3 weeks of ownership the battery simply wouldn't hold a charge. They said they'd send a new one on the 3d return but they didn't until I escalated on the 4th return. When we last had this discussion almost a year ago I furnished actual trouble ticket numbers and you claimed to have even checked it out! So how dare you impugn my integrity. Further proof you're a fanboy is that anytime something doesn't fit your mold you simply deem it untrue or a "user" problem (btw, explain how a battery not holding a charge could be user error). Bitter about Apple making better equipment? How so? My Sony laptop is everything I want in a laptop and the service, when rarely needed, is superb. And my Sandisk 8GB MP3 player cost far less than a Nano, plays more formats and doesn't hijack my PC's music files. AND, I pay 18 cents for a song - not a buck like you do! And my Motorola phone? Solid as a rock and I can actually USE my unlimited minutes because I can change the battery in the field when there's no charging option available. When I'm on a building site and on the phone with contractors all day I can't stop to charge my battery. I just pop in a spare and I'm good to go 24/7. Admit it puppy - you the poster boy for an Apple fanboy. Embrace it and be happy.

AT&T, then SBC and previously Ohio Bell/Ameritech, screwed me over on DSL and dialtone a few years ago, requiring me to file a complaint with the Ohio PUC before they'd refund $200 in charges on broken phone and DSL service that they failed to fix for two months. Or at least they tried. They did not succeed - the PUC saw to that.
As a result, Satan will be selling Sno-Cones in Hell before I spend another penny on anything they offer.
So, I really don't care what they're selling. I'm not buying.

Another iPhone FREEBIE
A sharp individual spotted the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) client on the App Store during the Guided Tour posted today.
The AIM client will provide iChat compatible instant messaging for the iPhone and iPod Touch. AOL first demoed the app during the original iPhone SDK launch event, but have made no further announcements since that time.
Oxford - 02 Jul 2008 04:15 GMT > > Just posted, the new Tour of the 3G iPhone! > > [quoted text clipped - 15 lines] > iPhone SDK launch event, but have made no further announcements since > that time. yep! basically, anything people still want will appear on the iPhone in 10 Days! Things like Video Recording, MMS, TV Remotes, Garage Door Openers, Bar Code Scanning are all coming to the iPhone.
It's going to freak a lot of the competitors out since they can't have easy app installation like the iPhone has. 4,000 apps by the touch of a finger, sweet...

Larry - 03 Jul 2008 00:56 GMT > No- a solid foundation would include functionality that is standard on > even the most basic cell phones. The iPhone misses on this. Met a great FruitFone owner this morning over breakfast. A friend met me and I booted Xournal on the N800 Linux Tablet to make a schematic drawing for him to build something when he got home. It's a shunt regulator to keep his solar panels from boiling away the electrolyte in his battery banks.
Anyway, I noticed this younger guy at the next table watching me drawing away with my stylus on Xournal and making notes on it with the onscreen stylus keyboard because noone can read my handwriting except some Egyptologists at major universities.
Finally, he couldn't stand it any more as I was emailing the drawings to my friend's home computer over my BT DUN on Alltel data link. "What do you call that?", he asked, pointing to the tablet. "I've never seen anything like that. I have an iPhone.", he proudly proclaimed.
After a short, but very informative mini-presentation of the N800, he wanted to know where to get one and was astonished that all the software I had shown him was freeware from some Linux hackers at maemo.org....(c;
Note to buy.com - I WANT COMMISSIONS ON MY ORDERS!!
Another convertee. I gave him my email addy to help him set it up when it gets here like I've done for many others. Buy me breakfast and I'll setup your tablet with the latest and neatest stuff...(c;
