Anyone seeing service problems with AT&T recently?

I'm across Puget Sound from Seattle, and had no service for about half
the day, and for the other half, it's been showing 0 or 1 bar but no
EDGE.  This evening, it's gotten up to 2 bars on occasion, and EDGE
comes back on occasion.  It's normally 5 bars here.

I called the nearest AT&T store to ask if they were getting service.
That store is about 8-10 miles south of me.  They said they were fine
there today, but had sporadic outages yesterday, with a 2 hour complete
outage.  We were fine here yesterday, as far as I know (I didn't have
occasion to use my phone then, but my office mate is also on AT&T, and
he used his phone several times yesterday with no problem).  They said
AT&T knows about the problem, and is working on it.

I haven't seen anything in the news about this, so assume it is not a
widespread problem, and am curious who else is seeing this.

I know they're rushing to finish upgrading to 3G network wide. Maybe
your outages are related to equipment upgrades?

I've had problems with my signal strength since moving to Las Vegas from
Phoenix about 2 1/2 months ago. I found a couple cool websites last
night that actually show the locations of the various cell towers. Turns
out I'm just in a dead zone. I'm right next to an airport--so no towers
for over a mile north of me. And few Cingular/AT&T towers to the south
and east. And the nearest one to the west is like 4 miles. So I'm
assuming all my dropped calls and weak signals are due to overtaxed
tower capacity and too few nearby towers.
