One more time......The site renders perfectly on iPod/iPhone because it has
identified ipod/iphone and sent you a DIFFERENT SITE that will render on
those devices.....a website without flash player ad movies and other web
devices these itoys do not render....
You can't get the website on you itoys because it is never sent to them....

you need to pay attention. at the bottom of versiontracker's mobile
friendly site (something many sites do) is a link for the full version.
tapping on it causes the full html to be sent, just as if it were a
'real computer' and it renders perfectly. thus, the iphone is a 'real
computer.'

it is, you just refuse to believe it.

I don't know what Larry is complaining about, but some website adverts
pulled from places like Google are in Flash and other peculiar formats
that MIGHT not work on the iPhone ... hell, some of them don't even
work on my computer's web broswers (including causing them to crash).
BUT, that's a fault of the advert's creators, not the website itself
nor the iPhone. Simply reloading the web page often pulls another
random advert in a different format which will work.

Good point
Another reason to use Ad Blocker in FIREFOX

i'd love to see adblocking on the iphone.

I'd love to see a user configurable firewall ...

Just download and install it. iPhone can do anything, you know....

Correct.

Correct. The functionality of _that_ site had to be tailored for the
flash-less iPhone and *improved* for the iPhone screen and navigation
style. There are _many_ other examples of cross-platform web serving for
different internet browsers, appliances and mobile platforms. Ever heard
of WAP?

And probably never will. In my view Apple is nervous about downloadable
code modules like Java applets and Flash as they make user applications
possible while also bypassing the App Store (losing revenue).

Correct. I *thankfully* don't see the PC version of Version Tracker on
my iToy, it's pants and ten miles too wide :-)
