Jed Stremel, Director of Mobile at Facebook, just announced at our
Mobile Web Wars Roundtable that Facebook’s iPhone/iPod app has reached
1 million users. Facebook is currently ranked as the 6th most popular
free application on Apple’s App Store, and has been among the store’s
top applications since the store’s launch on July 10.
One million in fifteen days isn't too bad.

irunes App store only counts your original download. Apple reminds you
even if you only download updates that you already have the
application either on your iPhone or in iTunes. You can delete it and
a few days later change your mind and as far as Apple is concerned you
can have it again without a hassle simply because you already tried
it once.
Facebook would be tracking the unique iPhone UIDs joining their server.

Again... WHY? The iPhone-specific webapp is much better than the
installable app, and you can switch to the full interface any time you
like. The app store verison is cut-down and doesn't perform any better
than the webapp.
