Fortune mag has a big article about the now 1001 iphone apps on the
website, all those little games, flashlights and other useless toys that
don't require cut and paste or removeable storage databases.
Iphone developers have a new, interesting website to voice their opinions
on:
http://www.fuckingnda.com/
It scours Twitter for NDA-related posts, compliments of Second Gear.
Twitter reports they are down for unscheduled maintenance this
morning....WTF??
Now, I have an interesting iPhone contest for you.......
Who holds the record for the MOST number of iPhone apps, installed in the
device, with room enough left to run ALL of them, without crashing out of
memory?
With limited memory and no possibility of expansion or booting to an
external memory card, there has to be a limit of how many of the 1001 apps
can be installed at any one moment.
The winner should get a free f.cking NDA T-shirt to wear to the next Iphone
waiting line when the version 3 phone is released in limited quantity.
This will be like the old college kids seeing how many college students
they can pack into a Volkswagen Beetle....(c;
When, not if, you get an out of memory error or crash, post the number of
iPhone apps installed at that time....minus one so they'll actually run.
I think the one-at-a-time running program limit was very smart thinking on
iPhone's part. Multiple programs waste memory Apple Store could use to
sell you more apps.....very smart, Apple.
......there's only so much memory in it.....

There are PCs that for years had far less memory than a 16GB iPhone. I
have seen whole businesses run on a lot less with remote terminals
networked also.
BTW an unjailbroken iPhone should max out at 164 unique apps due to
need for an launcher icon on the springboard.
Of course you could store web apps in Safari bookmarks which would
increase local code to hundreds if not thousands more. That is a neat
feature of Safari little used.
Jailbreak it and memory is the only limit.
