I do not know how many of you are on shared plans, but the shared
concept gets very complex and twisted from my point of view.

For shared local you need a digital phone, and the nation is roaming.

For shared national you need a GSM phone and you loose the mobile to
mobile plan of shared local- (which is one of the biggest reasons to go
shared in the first place.)  Then they add on mobile to mobile for ten
bucks a line.  (Now they call it a Buddy Plan.)
Basically AT&T's shared plan is too smaller mlife plans glued
together.
If you want a better national plan you buy a GAIT phone.  (Well, two
for a shared plan.)  On the TDMA local plan it coast nothing for the
second line but twenty bucks extra for any other lines.  On the GSM plan
its 20 bucks extra for the second line.
As for long distance being included they state that long distance
calls are included in the plan, then they double back and say that long
distance charges may be applied- even if its in your service area.
The 1 Rate plan is best done on TDMA.
And things get more complicated, with all sorts of charges.  For regular
services there is no monthly charge but there is a "service" charge.
By the time they got telling me how the plan would work I went to
Verizon... Cingular and Verizon both offer a much less complicated
excuse to raise that monthly bill on you.

Boy, talk about being confused, most of wha you wrote is incorrect. For
a national share plan on GSM the plans include 1000 national M2M
minutes, local share plans give you 1000 local m2m at no additional
charge. this is just one thing you got wrong, I don't feel like typing
anymore.

I was thinking the same:

TDMA share ( base)
59.99 ( 2 phones )
19.99 each additional
500 anytime
Unlimited n/w
1000 mtm between the 2 phones
free long distance

GSM local share
39.99+19.99 ( 2 phones )
19.99 each additionsl
600 anytime
unlimted n/w
1000 mtm
free long distance

GSM National share
39.99+19.99 ( 2 phones )
19.99each additional
550 anytime
unlimted n/w
1000 mtm
free long distance

On TDMA $36 activation per phone on 1 year contracts
On GSM, $36 activation total for all phones on initial order.  $36
activation on each one added later

All have higher levels for more anytime minutes

I just signed up for AT&T last Saturday and the plan I was sold is $79.99
for two phones and 1000 shared anytime minutes.  I specifically asked the
guy if it was $19.99 for the second phone and he said no.  It's the local
TDMA plan, not the digital.  Now this plan's not even on the web site as far
as I can see.

Thanks for the clarifications.  Sometimes I don't think the in-store
guys know what they are talking about.  I think I need to find a
different store.
I am not having very good luck dealing with local stores in the Everett
area.  T-Mobile reps lied like crazy and the AT&T chaps don't seem to
know their own plans.

TDMA is digital. What do you mean by your statement?

Hey buddy, it's not the "Buddy Plan." It's called the "Family Plan",
which is also known as the "Shared National GSM/MB Plan." Unfortunately
many users are not too familiar with this plan.
Just a few things that you should know. If you have multiple ATT fon's
in your home and call each other frequently, you need to decide what
your needs are. If one or more family members need to travel and use
their phone outside of the local area at least once per year...my
suggestion: GO TO THE GSM FAMILY PLAN.
If you are not a part of the above group, don't go to GSM, unless you
simply want extra discounts on a new phone.
Another thing you all should know... If you don't call each other
frequently don't get a Shared Plan, either in the TDMA or GSM/MB flavor.
Get individual plans, such as the Local or National Plan.
Anyway...you can always email me if you have extra questions. Trust me,
they will all be answered. Or I shall die trying.
