Agreed, and this sort of good will certainly isn't unprecedented.
I lived in Wilmington DE and was visiting my parents in Dover DE. Driving
home the northbound route 13 was closed due to an accident forcing us to use
the toll road DE1. Imagine my surprise when I got to the toll both to find
the sign saying FREE TOLL. I rolled through and enjoyed the free ride.
If AT&T really wanted to turn lengthy voice calls to blip text messages
they'd emphasize the FREE TEXT part. Just IMHO, YMMV.

Texting saves bandwidth. Texts are more likely to get through an overloaded
system than voice calls.
