As I understand it, Dish, and now Direct, *is* their interim solution.

Dish is the SBC/ATT solution ubtil Jan 31, 2009. DirecTv was used by
Bell-South/ATT until that contract expired earlier this year.

My mom's in CT, and she dumped Charter for U-Verse and has periodic
issues with it. One day a friendly repair tech shows up telling her
how he's from Michigan but that U-Verse is so troublesome in CT that
they've brought in extra folks to try and resolve it.
