If you got $800, Apple will sell you an unlocked iPhone in Hong Kong:

in many flavors!

There are a couple of things I know about Hong Kong.  The first is
that locked phones are a hard sell there since you can't travel more
than 20 miles in any direction before your own carrier's coverage runs
out and you are roaming "internationally".  It is therefore entirely
unsurprising that they needed to introduce an unlocked model of the
phone there early on.

The second is that some people there are willing to pay serious
money for a phone they like.  The first RAZR V3 I saw was in Hong Kong,
about 6 months before that phone was offered for sale in the US, and
the price for it was a bit over $1000 at that point.  They were selling
quite briskly even at that price.

I wouldn't be surprised if they sell more than a few of the iPhones
at $800.
