It's been around for a while. No Wi-Fi.

ummmmm....o-tay, but look at what it DOES have.

Video camera?

WTF operating system is it running?  Did I see a very brief glimpse of
the Windows rolling hills desktop screen?

If all the iPhone apologist fanbois can come up with is "yeah, but it
doesn't have WiFi," then you've lost.

Come on, this has got to be more hype than not.  You can do better,
can't you?

Or do I have to spend $195 to find out?

Sort of odd there are no listed specs or functionality, other than the
name inference.

Good question- these phones turn up on eBay quite a bit from offshore
resellers, generally with very vague specs.  Some claim they run WinMo, but
from the screenshots it looks like they simply lifted some WinMo wallpaper-
the rest of the shots don't seem to be WinMo based-, nor is Office Mobile
or Exchange support listed as features.

It looks like another "CECT-168" model of iPhoney clone.

> If all the iPhone apologist fanbois can come up with is "yeah, but it

Why?  It seemingly lacks installable apps, iTunes support, or multitouch -
it looks like a pretty typical feature phone with a ripped-off UI.
Geeks.com is currently hawking a media player for $80 that ripped off the
iPhone/iPod Touch UI.  A touchscreen and iPhony icons hardly makes it a
direct replacement!

Find out what?  You've bought a cheap Chinese knockoff like the cheaply-
constructed  $50 "Nano-style" MP3/video players eBay is full of?

The CECT-168 is tri-band, this one looks like quad-band.  IIRC, CECT-168
is running some bastardized version of Linux.

That's sad.

A nice feature!

This one is take it or leave it with the built-in apps, although it does
make some games far more interesting.

Details on all of these iPhoneys are sketchy.  The original CECT-168 was
tri-band, but I think a quad-band model was eventually released (or else the
eBay sellers just lied about it- either seems a likely possibility!)

I noticed this "iClone" didn't mention 3G anywhere on the web page.  I
suspect this web seller knows as little about the phone's specs as we do!
;-)

Then you've come up with more.

I stand behind what I said:  if all you can come up with is "yeah, but
it doesn't have WiFi," then you've lost.

I was amazed that the VERY FIRST fanboi comment was "yeah, but it
doesn't have WiFi".  I mean, good God, that can't be ALL it's
lacking....either that, or it truly is an iPhone killer.

Wi-Fi is a no-compromise requirement for a smart-phone. That's why it
was my first comment. It's the first thing I look for on all iPhone
competitors.

LOL, the last thing I am is an iPhone apologist, but Wi-Fi is a critical
feature of a smart-phone if you plan on using the web where there is no
3G, but that has Wi-Fi (like tens of thousands of hotels and motels
around the world).

I'm waiting for the new HTC which is due out in a week or so on Sprint,
and by December on Verizon. It's much more fully featured than the iPhone.

This device doesn't even have 3G support.

OBVIOUSLY a scam.

It says  ´Works on all carriers!´

Yeah like it works on Verizon and T-Mobile. Get Real.

Now Go Away.

FAQ says it won't work with TDMA, so it is clearly GSM.

Well..it could be CDMA as TDMA won't work with CDMA.

Just an off hand comment.

If you read their FAQ they qualify it to "all GSM carriers" and
specifically state it won't work on CDMA carriers like Verizon.

> Yeah like it works on Verizon and T-Mobile. Get Real.

Um, T-Mo is GSM- it'll work with them fine.  I think you meant "Verizon
and Sprint."

> Now Go Away.

Don't be so quick to dismiss it- it's in the price range of what you wanted
to spend on an iPhone but AT&T won't allow you!  ;-)

You know, whenever someone cops an attitude like your "Now Go Away"
comment, it's obvious--that person is upset by the content of the
discussion for some reason.

Why would you be upset at the content of the discussion?  Why do you
feel threatened by someone discussing this?

Sure because its such a scam phone.

So it's "just DON'T DISCUSS IT!" for a response?

As opposed to bringing it entirely to light for everyone to see all of
what it is and isn't?

No, whenever someone feels threatened by something, it seems he sticks
his head in the sand and/or puts his hands over his ears and yells
LALALALALALA so that he can't hear what he doesn't want to hear.

If this thing is a piece of junk, reveal that to the world.  But "Now Go
Away" is the response of someone fearful that it's not a piece of junk,
and that his devotion to the iPhone will be revealed as the silliness
that it is.

I say the same thing about the KKK marches: let 'em march, and show the
world who and what they are.  That's far, far better than beating them
down and making them keep to themselves in private, where you can't see
what they're doing and hear what they're talking about.

You need to keep up. It's been discussed extensively here. The CECT
phones have been out for at least a year. There have been quad band and
tri-band, and tri-band marketed as quad band.

Why do I suspect this to appear on the Eastern District of Texas
Federal Court docket for patent infringement.

I always find it amusing when the Americans sue some little company in
Shanghai in an American court.  It's almost as if they think the
Illuminati's New World Order has already taken over and the East Texas
Federal Court had any effect on a company in Shanghai....(c;

Why didn't Apple sue in Cupertino?  Was the judge laughing too hard?
