Hello...
I can't seem to send text messages, I receive them ok, I also get web
messages fine.

I sent a couple to someone on Sprint but he never got them, I sent a reply
to someone on "Upoc" to see if that would work, (nope).

I am being charged for these messages, so AT&T has them as being sent as my
phone does, anyone know what I may be doing wrong??

Also, using a T720 I can't see anything that would tell me if  I'm calling
another cell phone, on AT&T's web page or on my phone.
I have called someone a couple of times who is on Sprint, but can find no
mention of it except the length of the call.

If you are sending it to a normal SprintPCS phone which doesn't have Vision
(or whatever else you need to receive SMS) the phone will not get it.  I
believe you WILL be charged for these messages.  Your phone will not and
cannot till you if you are calling a landline or cell phone.  You need to
label each contact in your phone as such.  For example: Bob Cell, Bob Home,
Bob Work -- so then when you look in your call logs, you can see which
number you called.

You can also try sending the message to their sprint phones email
address (ie 9765551212@messaging.sprintpcs.com).

Vision, non vision, text updates enabled, text updates
disabled...sending sms to sprint phones is not always an easy task is
it?  As a matter of fact, thats why i left them! =)

I have only two relatives on SPCS.  One I don't call their cell phone, and
the other I do call -- and would like to text message, but I can't.  Oh
well, 9 more months still she can switch to a decent carrier ;)

Can't say for sure, but there is an amazingly good chance it's a Sprint
issue for numerous reasons.  Try sending a text message to your own number,
I'll bet you get it.

I don't think any cell phone can tell you that, and out of four carriers I
have used my bills never said so either.  Any particular reason why you need
it?

It costs to do mobile to mobile, I don't think it should but it does.
If there was a way to tell I could avoid the call or know if someone gave me
a cell number to call them at.

My phone does have a light to tell me if an incoming is a roaming call.

It costs?  As in more than to a landline?  Sprint doesn't charge extra
for M2M calls.  My wife uses Cingular, and doesn't experience that
either.  A quick review of the plans on the ATTWS site don't show that,
either.  I'm with Carl that I don't think any phone indicates a call to
or from another cell phone.  That kind of information just isn't
transmitted in a call.

So far as I'm aware, once a call gets to the POTS switches, it's just a
phone call.

Try http://telcodata.us and you can find who an area code/prefix
belongs to.
