The first true Global SM phone released in America, which I'd though
would be very popular and might even poses a threat to other carriers,
has a major flaw.  The antenna system is in the bottom of the phone.
What were they thinking?  After years of putting antennas into the top
of cell phones we get a company who comes up with a great idea and then
screws it up by putting the antenna right where everyone is going to
hold their phones.  If there was an award system for phones this one
would probably win the worst design award.  A quad GSM phone is a great
idea, but uck!

How many people do you know that hold their phone from the bottom of
the phone?  Not many I'd imagine.  How many people do you know that
hold their phone towards the top of their phones?  Quite a lot I'd
care to guess.  How many times have you seen someone with a phone to
their ear with their first finger pressed into the upper back of the
phone?

Actually, I see several people who hold their cell phone at the bottom
or at the lower middle- with their fingers.  If you (not you personally,
no insult intended) know anything about antennas you know that the
greater hight and clearance area an antenna has the better the
reception.  The few people I have seen who push the speaker to their ear
also bitch a lot about dropped calls.  To such folks I usually say "Stop
being a ninny and turn up your volume."
User ignorance of how to get a better signal does not excuse the maker
in the placing of an antenna on the lowest point.  How many people do
you personally know who do not almost cover the bottom of their cell
phone with the palm of their hands?

I think almost everyone does. As i said in my previous post, the
phone has design flaws. I was agreeing with you not saying you were
wrong. I hated almost everything about that phone. All i was saying
was that in the next model(525) they were going to fix those
issues(from what the NEC rep told me).

These are issues that sould be worked out on the 525. As well as an
ac charging port on the bottom instead of the side. But you also need
to realize that this is the first phone that they have made for the
U.S in about 6 or 7 years, it was going to have some design and
mechanical flaws.
