ATTWS pulls Bait and Switch on MPx200 orders

About a hundred of us took advantage of ordering the new Motorola
MPx200 phone when it was on the ATTWS web site for $0 with any plan.
Now ATTWS is suddenly canceling the orders now the phone is shipping.
This would have been fine a month ago, but waiting this long to do it
is a mistake.  The web customer support folks now say the phone is not
free it's $299.  That folks is the definition of bait and switch.  You
can't string customers out for a month never stating that there was a
mistake and now offer the same product at a higher price.

Since today these orders are in a holding pattern until ATTWS decides
what to do.  The good news for those that ordered is the fact that at
least one of these was filled.  If one was filled then they all need to
be otherwise it seems like fraud to me.  I'm lucky that I work with the
person that got the phone for $0 because the web order support people
would never tell you this and will call you a lair.

If it wasn't for some of the caring support folks at the 877-877-6420
(the Reno location specifically) then I would have given up days ago
and stayed with Sprintpcs.

I got mine today...what an awesome phone.  I am still finding things that it
does.  It is cool.  I cannot wait to see what the actual talk time is...that
will be the true measure.

Anyone know where to locate accessories for the phone?

Ah you bastard.  Was yours free?

That would be a 9 for accessories.  I would expect things to start
showing up pretty quick though.

No, mine was not free.  I bought it at CompUSA for $199.  The AT&T store
actually sent me there because he did not have any, and they would have been
$299 in the ATTWS store.  Go figure?  The CompUSA guy did not even know they
had them, his computer indicated that they had 6, so he went and pulled one
out of "unpacked" boxes.  Apparently, their sale of these starts today...he
just gave me one a day early.

I know you are upset that you were unable to capatilize on an honest
mistake, but running around yelling Bait and Switch is a little rediculous.
Its a mistake. its not even close to Bait and Switch. Its a friggin mistake.
You honestly think that a bunch of people got together at some big meeting
at ATTWS and said "OK, Heres the Plan. We put the MPx200 on the website at a
cost of $0. Then after a day or two, we correct it to the right amount, and
screw almost 100 people into taking a NOKIAPromo phone instead!! Whatta ya
think? Yeah baby!! High Fives All the way around!! Think of how many people
will be pissed AND NOT GO THROUGH WITH IT!!!
Get with the program. Your out $0 dollars. You wasted some of your valuable
time punching numbers into your computer. Get over it.
By the way, to save you from embaressing yourself next time. Here is Bait
and Switch,. They run an ad in the local paper. The CellMaster 250 is $19.
You call and say , Hey is that Cellmaster 250 REALLY $19?" "Yes Sir let me
get your info, Ill run your credit and come on down and get it" says Fast
Frank. You walk through the door, got your best Lime Green Leisure On ready
to get yourself into that new CellMaster. Fast Frank greets you at the door.
"Sir I got the CellMasters over here, but I gotta tell ya this is the 3rd
return Ive had in 12 hours. The cases are all plastic and the SEND buttons
all keep falling off. For only $50 more I have the new Taiwan Talker and I
gotta say, that phone kicks butt. And because you made the right move, Ill
throw in a special ANTI RADIATION sticker. That way the BETA RAYS wont fry
tyour brains. OK? Great lets do it.... By the way, that is the coolest suit.
Where did ya get that?

That, is Bait and Switch.

Sounds like your pussy hurts because you didn't get in on the offer or
your're the dumb a.s that sets up the ATTWS web site.  Either one your
correct in stating I'm still out $0.

Doesn't matter to me. I want the phone I just go buy one. For me obtaining
quality equipment isn't dependant on someone making a mistake and me holding
my breath and trying to capitalize on it. Your the same guy who would see a
new Cadillac listed in the paper for $10.00 and be down their screaming "I
want my lawyer" when they wont give it to ya. BTW have you noticed your SOLO
on this little Rant? Maybe the other guys are smart enough not to let it be
known they really believed that a brand new, just released phone going
EVERYWHERE else for $300 WITH AN ACTIVATION was gonna come to them for free,
and when it didn't realized it was a mistake and took it like an adult. Or
maybe that's the problem. We aren't dealing with an adult?. LOL Keep on
plugging Benny, maybe you can win PICK 3 next week and get a NOKIA. LOL Or,
don't forget, the Holidays are coming, maybe Santa will bring ya one?

The way an honest company atones for an honest mistake is to honor the terms as
originally presented when they accepted the customer's order. The way a
sleazeball company deals with a mistake is to say "tough sh.t" to its customers
and refuse to accept responsibility for its error.

No it isn't.  It's not "bait and switch" if they are selling you the same
phone.  This would be more like false advertising (if they knowingly priced
it at $0 but never intended to sell it for that), or maybe there is a more
detailed term to indicate that they are refusing to honor a price because
they changed their mind afterwards (although the law probably doesn't care
which way it happened).  It sure isn't baiting and switching of there was no
switching done.  Maybe baiting and screwing.
