I have a few questions about the at&t "Go phone" , i read on the at&t
wireless website that the actual rates are quit a bit higher than
advertised. For example the 29.99 plan actually take $41 out of your
bank account, is this true? Also i read that the rates are actually in
addition to .20 cents per minute, is this also true? i had the
understanding that the 29.99 (in my case) plan was a flat rate
including minutes, but i am a novice in this type of stuff, Anyway, is
there anyone who could give me a good estimate (from experience with
AT$T "go phone" service) on how much the 29.99 plan will really be
costing me per month if i use the phone 40 minutes during the week and
about 200 every weekend? (is the .20 cent per minute rate in effect on
the weekends also, even though it says free nights n weekends?) Any
help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

The 29.99 plan includes unlimited nights and weekends. Each call during
daytime costs 20c/min which is deducted from the credit on your account
(in this case, $29.99). I've had the go phone for 2 months on the same
plan and no additional taxes have been charged. I just pay $29.99 each
time and I can talk for up to 150 minutes during daytime
(150*$0.20=$30)and unlimited minutes after 9pm on weekdays and all day
on the weekends.

It's pretty clear on the Web site and in the GoPhone
brochure...whatever "minutes" number is listed is what you get before
they start charging per minute, based on the formula like the one you
post above :) Nights/weekends are always free on all but the least
expensive plans.
I don't know how they treat taxes nationwide...some states may
charge... but I get $43.99 charged each time they need to do it.
($39.99 plan plus $4 for mMode).
