Has anybody tried using (an unlocked) Nokia 6340 multiband phone on
the ATTWS? I currently have a T62u which will not work in TDMA areas;
it will not log onto the network and will only allow me to make calls
using a credit card (on the "American Roaming Network"). Thanks,
Andrew

Sounds like you need AT&T to add the phones ESN to your account.

Did you just put the SIM into your phone? With GAIT phones, you have to
call ATTWS when you switch, because the ESN is used to authenticate the
phone on a TDMA or AMPS network. However, if you only use GSM coverage,
then switching SIMs will do you fine.

I posted numerous items at www.howardforums.com regarding the activation of
the Nokia 6340i on ATTWS. Do a search and you'll see. I'm totally happy
with it, but be ready to do some legwork. The Nokia 6590i is what I
recommend though, as the GSM overlay seems to be fairly complete for all the
places I've travelled to.
