This month I received the new billing format.  The overall bill has gone
up close to 7%.  All of the increases were in the 'Taxes, Surcharges,
and Regulatory fees' section of the bill.

I'm a customer in MN.  I didn't realize that these taxes had nearly
doubled (3.06 to 5.91) in the last month.  Has any other AT&T customer
in MN seen this?  [ I expect yes .. I'm not special.  :-) ]  Is there a
good source for looking up what the actual taxes are?

(I think the sudden increase is bs - I'm not aware of any recent
regulatory actions.  The cynical side of me expects that the increase is
a hidden fee for the number portability deal.)

Thanks,
Mike

AT&T added a $1.75 "Regulatory Programs Fee" a few months ago.  They
sent notice out about this to customers beforehand.  I think it is
basically a fee to cover portability - I saved the notice but don't
have it handy.  But, that would cover much of your noticed increase.

My question wasn't about the "Regulator Programs Fee" - that fee has
been there for a few months.

My question is about a sudden jump in the following fees:

Federal Tax: was 0.64, is now 1.30
State Taxes: was 1.35, is now 2.78
Universal Connectivity Charge: was 0.44, is now 1.09
City Tax: was 0.10, is now 0.21
  911 Tax/TACIP Fee: was 0.53, still 0.53

Net increase on these 5 fees was 2.85, which is an increase on 93% on
these fees.

Checking the MN State Public Utilities Commision didn't yield anything.
I don't believe that all of these taxes went up at the same time.  In
fact, I don't believe that any of them went up. ;-)
