 1.. Hotline number
3.8 You can choose a hotline number which gives the Telstra Pre-Paid Plus
customer up to three free two minute calls to that number each day. The
hotline number must be a national fixed or a Telstra mobile number. The
hotline number is accessed by calling 125 8881 from the Telstra Pre-Paid
Plus mobile.

3.9 At the end of two minutes, the call to the hotline number will end. Any
unused calls to the hotline number will be forfeited each day.

3.10 A $4.99 charge applies each time you change the hotline number.

I'm sure it was launched recently with much fanfare from Telstra.

Basically Mummy/Daddy can give little Johnny/Joan a Telstra prepaid and
never be worried that they can't contact home with it.

Nice marketing ploy on Telstra's behalf. Should be around for a while.

Where are you reading this? Looks familiar. It may be related to tying
the prepaid to a postpaid account, with regular top-ups.

You missed the point of all this by deleting the paragraph headline.
The catch:  To have this you must add $10 to the prepaid account every month
using direct debit.  Not so pretty.

How could Mobilelink be simpler?

Mobile Link couldnt be more simple

Debit post paid, credit prepaid. And some free Hotline calls.
End of story

There is no "direct debit" involved

The $10 or the amount you choose is charged to the sponsored post paid
service
You can sponsor up to 20 prepaids on the one postpaid acct (service?)
Its working like hotcakes

Yeah.
You, as always, miss the point, Mikey.

The point being a commitment of $10 paid into each and every Prepaid phone
account that's attached to the postpaid account every month.  Another nice
earner for Telstra.

"Working like at treat," I take it, means that there are a zillion suckers
out there shovelling more $$$ into another Telstra quick bucks scheme.

No, I know the product better than you. Thats the point

There is no commitment.

All it is, instead of prepaid pov kids buying a $10 recharge card per month,
its just the parents paying for it on the post paid acct.

There is no extra revenue for Telstra. Instead of selling a $10 card, its
debitted to a post paid acct.

$10 still equals $10.

MobileLink is a customer offer that customers choose to take up. Start at
any time, end at any time

The advantage is the free Hotline number

So in fact, for the same $10, customers get a Hotline number feature for
free

So added value for Telstra post paid and pre paid customers, at no extra
charge
