Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of any of the newer CDMA
phones and know whether or not you can use them with a patch lead and
external antenna.  For the record, by external antenna, I'm referring to
an antenna mounted externally onto a vehicle, not a pull out antenna
which is external to the handset.

I have a Nokia 6385 at the moment, and it's "ok", but I think it's
starting to go deaf a bit again.

Most handsets that support a "real" car kit will support an external
antenna. The general rule of thumb is to steer clear of those that use
inductive coupling. Direct connection usually gives better results.
Having said that, an external antenna does not automaticaly give
better sensitivity - sometimes they make no difference, and sometimes
they make things worse.
