I have a Nokia 2280 as a loan phone while my own phone is being repaired. When I was in the dealer, as they were doing the ESN swap, I noticed what looked like a slot for a SIM card. When I got home, I opened the phone and had a look. It's the same size as a sim card, but there is a little sticker there which says, "card slot non-functional". The manual describes the slot as a RUIM card slot, but also says not to insert any cards in there as it does not support RUIM cards. What is a RUIM card? The main advantage of a sim card is that you can simply swap phones without having to take the phone into the big smoke to have it changed.
