Hi All,

I'm looking to buy a pre-paid CDMA phone just to have as a spare in the car
when I'm traveling out west.

Any one got comments about these phones?

Motorola C131

Nokia 2280

Kyocera K112

Regards

Andrew

Buy some of the "old stock" on the very old (ie: pre-communic8) "Telstra
Prepaid Mobile" CDMA plan. eg:
http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/en/product/E8079

The credits never expire on these old prepaid CDMA (and GSM) plans
(undocumented feature) and therefore are perfect for a spare/emergency
phone.

For call rates etc refer:
http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/mobiles/prepaid/prepaid.htm

Bought a Nokia 2280 a few weeks ago and am happy with it. Works well and the
coverage over the Newall highway BNE to MLB was great. Everytime we looked
at the phone it was in service. The GSM phone we had (Telstra network) was
in service in towns only.

Topped up the phone when it was new with $60 and the credit now expires May
2005.

I don't s'pose it has IR or data connectivity?

My 6385's karked it. Luckily all the entries in it are also in my Palm.
When I got the 6385, I copied the address book over using IR. So, if I
go for something like the 2280, this'd be a handy feature.

I purchased one of these Hyundai 310E phones from DSE.
Just been reduced down to $79.
Come with $100 in call credits.
Off peak calls to Telstra mobiles are 5.5c/min, happy with that!

One issue, anyone know where the keyguard is on the 310E??

Me,

Can you confirm that is definately "Telstra PrePaid" and not Telstra prePaid
Plus ala c8.

I went to a store to have a look at one of the below phones, indicated by
thegoons, being the E8079. The guy pulled out the communic8 Hyundai 310E's
and said it corresponded to the below item.

The DSE webpage doesnt indicate whether it is c8 or TPP, nor the call credit
or call credit expiry, so its hard to tell.
