$30 home phone w/ $20 incl calls - B 'super saver'

B 'Super Saver' home phone plan

  $29.95/month in access fees

with $20 included local calls every month
(equates to 100 local calls @20c each)

Looks like one of the better post-paid local call offers if you're not
interested in bundling your internet or other products.

B breaks the monthly fees down as $25 line rent, plus $4.95 'plan fee'.

I think you forgo any decent 'capped call' offers, but I guess you could
always use Telstra's 1411 override code if you want the occasional capped
call. (NB There seem to be some discrepancies between the html and PDF
pricing)

From the looks of the brochure, it's been around a few months, but it's the
first time I've seen it.  Anyone tried B Digital for landline before?  Any
hidden catches?

I don't know for certain, but I suspect not, if you've got a preselection
obligation with iiPhone.

AFAIK, most 'local+line rent' offers that use resold lines will oblige you
to use the local call SP for long distance too.  The margins aren't that
good for reselling local calls and line rent only.

That brings up another problem, some make a lot more
13 calls than local calls once they dont have dialup anymore.

Dont think you get capped calls if you use the override.

Doesn't seem like a big problem - if that's the case, and you've got
ADSL, then HomeLine Budget is probably a better option.

> Dont think you get capped calls if you use the override.

Nah, you still get capped calls at night using Telstra's 1411 override
but at nasty HomeLine Budget rates - $3/call STD, $3/20min to Telstra
mobiles.

B's html pricing shows a similar but slightly different offer for
capped calls.

Never said it was a big problem, just that
it aint always the local calls that matter.

Doesnt do anything about included local or 13 calls.

Gotta url for that ?

??  My point is, if your interest is in One3/1300 calls (rather than
local calls), then you may as well pick a plan with low line rent - ie
HomeLine Budget - rather than bother with a more expensive plan that
has included local calls.

HomeLine Budget plan"

And my point is that I'm more interested in a plan that
includes 13 calls with local calls in the included calls.

HomeLine Budget has other significant downsides.

Do you know that those caps apply and that isnt just poor wording in those ?

Fair enough... let us know when you find one!

The terms are pretty plain to me!  But if there was some exclusion, it
wouldn't be the first time a telco put misleading info in the public domain.

I'm not that interested that I can be bothered calling to clarify, but you'd
certainly have an argument if, for some reason, you wanted to 'monster'
Telstra into giving you a capped override call.

Havent found one yet, which is basically why
I commented, in case someone had seen one.

Irrelevant to whether its as simple as they claim.

Or just poor wording.

> I'm not that interested that I can be bothered calling to clarify,

Yeah, I'm not either, due to the downsides with HomeLine Budget.

> but you'd certainly have an argument if, for some reason, you

Sure. But likely that would only work for the first one.

They'd likely be forced to charge you the capped rate, but if you
didnt like the reality, you'd have to change plans and as far as I
know no one offers a capped rate with the use of an override code.

Again, if someone does, I'd like to hear about it.
