You will find that Telstra writes off more from their prepaid products than
any other carrier

Only because they are too cheap to pay for real-time billing on non-voice
products.

The product is exiting. No need to pay for anything

Wrong again.
Eg. You have 50c credit. You make 100 SMS calls in one day (at 25c each). $24
gets written off at the end of the day.

The IN will not allow you to make 100 SMSes when you have 50c credit.

Wrong. The IN has no idea because MICA calculates them in batches once a day
(no real-time debits for SMS) and updates the IN with the new credit at that
time. As a prepaid account cannot go into debt, any negative balance is
brought back to $0.

Sorry, but thats crap.
I sent an SMS, two minutes later the IN balance was 25c less.

However it works, it is highly variable. I have used WAP and SMS on TPP+ and
the charges have taken anywhere from one minute to one day to be applied to
my account, with WAP especially being slow.

It sure is. Check the ACCB in PPMBAL, send a text, then do another enquiry.
Updated immediately.
Tried the above myself.

Does Telstra Pre-Paid not provide GPRS WAP because it would require a
billing delay? Maybe Telstra needs to upgrade its accounting system.
iSIM hits my prepaid with a charge as soon as I complete a GPRS session.
Presumably the iSIM system will cut me off mid-stream if I run my funds to
nil.

Telstra prepaid is closing in less than a year. Thats why it doesnt provide
GPRS.

It will be permanently gone in March 2004, so I doubt GPRS and MMS will ever
come along.
