The Voda offer is detailed here: http://www.thesundaymail.news.com.au/vodaphone You should be able to register for the Voda offer at www.redsim.com.au but the website doesn't seem to be up yet.
Michael - 20 Aug 2004 10:44 GMT What $200 prepaid airtime offer? Your URL links to the normal T-Time rewards

Didnt go to the courier mail site, it popped up a Telstra ad entitled "Telstra Davis", clicking further on the ad brought me to the t-time rewards page.
This time it brings me straight to the article. weird.

Can someone at the Big T give insight into whether it's selected or all users?

The Commonwealth of Aus being the major shareholder of Telstra, has no effect on Telstra's marketing. "There are no special laws which apply to Telstra';s marketing", any different from vodafone or optuses, or anyone else
Dave - 28 Aug 2004 15:23 GMT Actually they didn't. Signup from NSW works provided you were able to snag a copy of the paper last Sunday.

That federal legislation is completely irrelevant to both, its a state matter.

The Family - 23 Aug 2004 13:11 GMT Mikey, this is selling and salesmanship, NOT marketing. Comprendez?
One requires a uni degree, the other doesn't. You are obviously in the latter class. Sellers always reckon the are marketers because they don't understand the difference.

Nothing to do with sales. marketing get to decide which segments to sell to. thats marketing, once again nothing to do with selling

Coming up with offers is salesmanship. Deciding on segmental targeting could be marketing. Depends.

I'm in Qld and got the sms offer from tls on Friday afternoon. But there is a catch. I have to go to the website and register, and they will give me $200 bonus credits on September 1. These credits can only be used up until 30th Sept, when I lose them. I also lose all other credits I have at that time. In my case, I have over $100 in credits right now. So if I register, I get a total of $300, but at the end of Sept I will have $0. So if I don't make over $100 of calls in Sept, I'm losing money.
SteveS - 23 Aug 2004 07:03 GMT I normally in QLD, my phone is registered there but I am temporarily out of QLD and have not had the offer. Would take it if they offered it to me and also their web site does not want to know my mobile number (Telstra CDMA Pre-paid).
Must be selected customers only.

Glad I don't deal with them except for my PSTN line for broadband. Roll on wireless broadband!

Free sim. Once registered, you get the 200 mins to other Voda phones.
Top it up with the minimum $20, and you get that doubled, plus the unused Voda minutes convert to credit at 20c/minute.
So ... Free connection, $80 worth of credit to be used in 2 months - all for $20 plus the price of the paper...
dopefish - 23 Aug 2004 12:36 GMT > I'm quite happily enjoying Voda's competing offer! I'm actually quite happy with it as well... I already have a vodafone prepaid service so i chose the option to credit the existing account with 200 free minutes... I didn'tn release they also slap on an additional $40 of credit to that as well.
Not a bad deal at all.
Michael - 23 Aug 2004 11:33 GMT > The slippery buggers. Always a catch with a Telstra offer, isn't there? You cant expect them to be able to afford to give away $200 to each of the maybe 3 million prepaid customers they currently have connected.
Voda's offer is also limited to somelike like 600k for the same reason

Approx 600,000 sims to be given away, registration will work for the first 150,000.
The Family - 23 Aug 2004 13:18 GMT Not exactly a major limit - if Voda signs up 150,000 fresh customers in Qld it will easily exceed its wildest dreams, I suspect.

I do expect a $200 offer, valid for 1 month, to NOT result in losing all of my prior, PAID credit at the end of the said month. THAT is slippery stuff and not the behaviour I would expect of a major corporate. More like one.tel.

Ring up Telstra and ask them to read "Offer 1" from their internal database. Its three clicks in from the main screen.
