Hi all,
Im going to Beijing and Hong Kong for three weeks in December, and would
like a sim that I can use global roaming on. Im currently signed up to iSim,
and they do not have a global roaming option. Any ideas who I can sign up
with?
Thanks

sign up with Telstra for the duration of your travel, then port back to
ISIM. Alternatively buy a pre-paid pack on arrical or see if u can get one
off ebay or similar auction site

Doubt if a pre paid bought either in Hong Kong (and not even sure such a
thing exists in China) would allow use in the other country, which, for all
intents and purposes are really two countries when it comes to
telecommunications.
Telstra sim card with roaming enabled is probably the best way to go in
China.

I'm dangerous when I know what I'm doing.

Hehe. Did you know that China is world's largest mobile market by
handsets and way up there in terms of revenue also. And pre-paid
services are a big part of spending pattern there. So it's absolutely
no problems in getting a prepaid. The only country where I had problems
tracking down a prepaid arrangement was in the US.

No doubt from a convenience point of view.

Buy a 3 International Roaming Rechargeable SIM Card from 3 (THREE) when you
get to Hong Kong. Airtime rate is 0.3c/min. Costs $98. This airtime business
is the charge to receive calls in Hong Kong.
Go to www.three.com.hk and navigate to the dualband site and then the
English version. The call rates for roaming are up there somewhere.

Sounds good. Is that $98 AUD or $98 HK?

That's $98 HK.

Roaming will always be expensive!
If you are only going to be in BJ and HK, I'd suggest that you just buy
prepaid in each of those places. And if you really want people to
contact you on your iSIM number, then it's easy to put a forwarding
number on your iSIM number.
In Beijing, don't buy it at the Airport. There are local phone shops
that'll sell you a prepaid card and a local number at a price
determined by the "desirability" of the number. I bought one (didn't
care what number it was) for 130RMB with 50RMB included call cost.
Similarly you can do the same in HK, again, avoid airport purchases.
