Anyone having this problem with Vodaphone?
Vodafone may face fines of $250,000 a day
Phone carrier Vodafone could face fines of up to $250,000 a day after
Australia's communications watchdog found it is not allowing mobile
phone users to switch providers quickly enough.
The Australian Communications Authority (ACA) requires mobile phone
companies to update a customer's number within three hours if they
change providers.
But the ACA found in some cases it was taking Vodafone several days.
Acting ACA chairman Bob Horton says it appears to be a problem with
the technology but a full investigation will also look at whether it
is deliberate.
"We're looking into that, whether there's any malicious or mischievous
activity going on or anti-competitive behaviour," he said.
"For instance, we will test the port-in against the port-out ratio so
that a company's not favouring itself."
Vodafone says it accepts there have been problems with transferring
some numbers and it is taking all the necessary steps to rectify the
situation.

All the reports from the various 'insiders' that work at Vodafone (they
hang out at whirlpool now and again), indicate that this isn't
malicious, and it is in fact their porting system having a hard time
keeping up with all the people porting too (and a lesser extent from)
Vodafone.

Isn't the porting system something which Telstra commissioned and all
the carriers share?
I guess Vodafone is having problems with its internal practices.

About time; I recall one of my Vodafone port-outs taking 24 hours or so.
