Looking for a new plan

Hiya

Ive been a long time optus customer, but i may have to split with them soon.
Where i am living now has poor optus reception, and its driving me nuts.
I cant get a decent conversation going, as the phone just drops out. I
usually get 1 bar reception on Nokia's. Our second phone is Sony
Ericsson (the $99 prepaid ones). Thats even worse... its almost useless
at home. Does anyone know, which phones have better reception than others?

I really prefer to stay with Optus, as i am on a very cheap plan, but
because my wife keeps using the landline to call mobiles, its driving
our phone costs up the wall.

I have been looking around, Vodafone, Telstra, 3, for cheap, low usuage
plans. I haven't had a chance to digest all the info yet.... but was
wondering if anyone can recommend any cheap plans?

Thanks

Kory

You may want to consider an external antenna for you phone at home if
you are happy with your Optarse plan.  Even a glass mount antenna on one
of your windows would probably make a difference.

The views stated by me are my own and have nothing to do with any

I have a similiar problem, which isn't fixed by placing the phone in the car
kit. I did read that Optus are planning to install another tower in the area
so hopefully the coverage problem will be fixed.
FREE30 at Revtel - 28 Jan 2005 12:50 GMT
You may want to consider Revolution Telecom as a cheap pre-paid provider.
They use the Vodaphone network around Australia so reception is really good
and they offer really cheap calling rates.  Standard rate is just 9.9c per
30 seconds, SMS are 20c, your calling credits never expire and you dont get
locked into any contract.

Also, for a limited time only, they are offering a FREE $30 phone credit to
anyone porting their number to Revolution Telecom.

To take advantage of this offer go to www.joinrevolution.com and fill in
your name, address, mobile phone number and the promotion code FREE30 and
Revolution will do the rest.

If you've got any friends that might be interested in this deal, then let
them know as well and they can use the same FREE30 promotion code.

For more information visit www.revtel.com.au

cheers

'Cheap' being the key word.

Obviously too cheap to pay for advertising and would prefer to spam
newsgroups instead.

Yep. Definitely 'cheap'. Bordering on Pov.

When compared to a kids walkie-talkie.......

There's that word again.....

I've been with Revolution for about a month and havent had any hassles with
reception. And my phone bill is a lot less than my old Telstra account with
the same usage.  Particularly as I use my phone for just calls and sms and
dont bother with pic msgs, MMS and all that other stuff anyway. And if a
lack of formal advertising means that my phone bill is kept low then i'm
more than happy to see the odd ad online instead.

LOL, You've gotta change more than just your name and email address, moron!
DizzyDevl - 28 Jan 2005 14:26 GMT
Why bother changing my IP? Take advantage of the Revtel deal or dont, I
don't care.  Revolution has been a good telco for me and saved me money. My
original post was a helpful suggestion for KORy.  I dont see any of you
critics making any helpful suggestions for him.

And if I choose to post the deal in full for others to see then why the hell
not? This is a mobile phone forum and if people choose to check it out then
great, it's their gain.

Dont take my word for it all, go check out the deal yourself at
www.joinrevolution.com and www.revtel.com.au.

So why bother trying to hide your identity (and f.cking it up BTW).

You've already told us that, shill.

Bullshit. It was spam.

OK. I'll do it now then.
Kory - Avoid shonky outfits like RevTel. Any company who resorts to getting
shills to spam newsgroups is definitely shifty.

Because it's spam, stupid.

Correct. Not a place for free advertising. Especially when you try to hide
your identity to support your spam.

I doubt that.

> Dont take my word for it all

I won't. RevTel can go and f.ck themselves as far as I'm concerned.

f.ck off shill.

You have not provided the full name and ABN of the company you are
representing in this ad. Neither have you included the appropriate
fine-print disclaimers to go along with your statements. You should be
referred to the ACCC and TIO for reaming.

Doesnt need to when he included a link to the web site that has those.

Ditto.

And they'd tell you to go and f.ck yourself, again.

Didn't know such antenna existed for mobile phones. Where can you get
one of these things? Dick Smith?

Bullshit. Hardly any disappear.

You're always welcome to bend over and get shafted.

These antennas are simply mobile phone antennas you will find on cars.
DSE will sell them or you can look on eBay.  Depends on what phone you
have as to what you will require to plug the antenna into, you may need
an in car kit set up at home.

As for Revtel, they may have good product *BUT* it does not excuse them
for *SPAMMING* the newsgroups.  I am sure it will have a negative
impact, I for one won't consider them simply because of them *SPAMMING,
they can get *f.cked*!
