anyone know where i can get the sim cards cheaper than that ?

Pointless, it wont work.

Pity most of the local sims are better than that.

Doesnt work for Voda Aus SIMs and probably not for Telstra SIMs much longer

I would assume they are moving to 128-bit encryption like Vodafone
currently uses, making it practically impossible to decrypt the key and
thus clone the SIM.
