I'm just after a cheapish mobile phone to buy to put my existing vodafone
simm into.
I want a phone to buy outright, not locked etc.
Can anyone help?

Yep, cheapest way to get one (retail) is probably to buy a prepaid
handset and have it unlocked.  The Nokia 6610i and Nokia 3200 are
sub-$200, and can be unlocked remotely quite easily - some people on
this newsgroup are sometimes willing to generate the unlock codes for
free, or there are a range of unlockers on the internet.

Get a prepaid phone, just make sure it's locked to the Vodaphone network.
I know you said you wanted an unlocked, but...

Vodafone don't lock their handsets - you can use a handset purchased at
Vodafone on any network.... and it's spelt with an 'f' ya moron.

That would be why the vodaphone sagem c5-2 I have here only accepts
vodafone sims I suppose.
